For Fortnite fans, it’s the time of year when things go bump in the night, and the island transforms into a spooky playground for Fortnitemares 2024. This year’s Halloween event promises to include frightfully fun content, chilling skins, scary challenges, and a horde of ghoulish surprises. Here’s everything you need to know about Fortnite Fortnitemares 2024, which kicks off earlier than expected.

Originally planned for mid-October as per previous leaks, Epic Games decided to give everyone an early scare by changing the start date forward to Friday, October 11. The update rolls out after the Fortnite servers go down for maintenance that morning, with downtime starting at 9 a.m. BST (4 a.m. EDT, 1 a.m. PDT). Once the servers are back up, Halloween’s spooky fun begins. The event will continue for over three weeks, giving you plenty of time to rack up some seasonal rewards and unlock all the special skins before it ends on expected November 2, just as Fortnite Season 4 wraps up.

What’s New in Fortnitemares 2024?

This year’s event is bigger and scarier, with spooky new skins, limited-time quests, and eerie map changes. Plus, as with every Fortnitemares, expect a boatload of collaborations with horror and pop culture franchises that will keep you on edge.

1. New Skins

Fortnitemares is known for its great cosmetic releases, and 2024 is no exception. This year, Fortnite’s skin vault is getting an infusion of pure terror with:

  • Billy the Puppet from the Saw franchise, trundling around on his creepy tricycle.
  • Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre—complete with a gruesome chainsaw pickaxe.
  • Mephisto, the demonic villain from Marvel Comics, is set to raise hell with his evil look.
  • Lexa Hexbringer, an original Fortnite skin, with a terrifying new style just for the event.
  • Even Disney villains like Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and Maleficent are making their Fortnite debut, in a crossover that’s as bizarre as it is terrifying.

If these don’t send shivers down your spine, nothing will. Each skin will also come with its own set of cosmetics like back blings, emotes, and pickaxes to complete the nightmarish look.

2. Map Changes and New POIs

The Fortnite island will also undergo a change with Halloween-themed locations and creepy new points of interest (POIs). According to leaks, areas like Brawler’s Battleground, Grand Glacier, and Restored Reels will get a haunted makeover, and six new landmarks are expected to appear.

3. Horde Rush Mode Returns

Back by popular demand, the Horde Rush mode makes its creepy return. In this mode, you and your squad face off against terrifying monster groups, all while completing quests and earning special rewards. This year’s Horde Rush will likely include Fortnitemares-themed quests, adding more terror and excitement to the event.

Fortnitemares Quests and Rewards

As always, Fortnitemares 2024 will include a few special quests and challenges, designed to keep you busy throughout the event. While the full list of objectives hasn’t been revealed yet, you can expect to earn some rewards like exclusive cosmetics, XP bonuses, and other limited-time goodies. The event’s quests will likely be spread across multiple game modes, including Horde Rush, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to earn your spooky swag.

Fortnite Collabs: Horror Meets Pop Culture

Fortnite is keeping its tradition of amazing collaborations, and this year, horror franchises and Disney villains are taking the spotlight. The Saw franchise brings Billy the Puppet into the game, and for something a little less creepy (but still spooky), Captain Hook, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil join the fray. If you’re a fan of Halloween horror or classic Disney villains, Fortnitemares 2024 has something for everyone.

Well, if the creepy skins, haunted POIs, and waves of monsters weren’t enough, we’ve also heard rumors of a Boom Billy Bike—a new mythic item that chases your enemies around the map before exploding on impact.

But remember: it’s all in good fun. After all, nothing says “Happy Halloween” like eliminating your enemies while dressed as Billy the Puppet! 🎃
