The Nightsoul mechanics are introduced in Genshin Impact 5.0 which are tied to the Natlan character. This guide explains everything about Nightsoul Blessing, Burst, and Transmission including their working and use.
Genshin Impact Nightsoul Blessing
Nightsoul’s Blessing is a special state only Natlan characters can use to increase their movement and combat abilities. It’s fueled by Nightsoul Points, a special stamina-like resource, and grants characters access to improved skills or abilities while active. For example, characters like Mualani and Kachina rely on this state to execute their signature moves, such as Mualani’s Sharky Surfboard or Kachina’s Turbo Twirly. Unless the Nightsoul Points are available, these powers either remain active or function differently.
When a character enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, a stylized Nightsoul Point bar appears on the side of your screen with Points draining as stamina. Once the Nightsoul Points (appear beside characters) are fully consumed, Phlogiston (appears on the stamina bar) works as an alternative energy source. If both resources are gone, the character will exit the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, and the ability will go on cooldown.
Some benefits of the Natlan’s Nightsoul Blessing state include:
- Increased movement speed and reduced stamina consumption when climbing or swimming.
- Improved combat mechanics, such as new attack modes.
- Access to upgraded exploration abilities, like surfing on water or climbing vertical surfaces.
To collect Nightsoul Points, most Natlan characters have built-in recovery mechanics through their Elemental Skills. Mualani collects Puffers on her surfboard to regain points. Without Puffers, you can explore the environment or switch strategies.

Genshin Impact Nightsoul Burst
Another new mechanic introduced in version 5.0 besides Blessing is Nightsoul Burst for Natlan characters. This state is triggered when a Natlan character deals Elemental Damage to enemies. While Nightsoul Burst doesn’t directly deal damage or create effects, it offers many buffs and talents tied to Natlan, artifacts, or weapons.
Each character introduced in Genshin Impact 5.0 or later has at least one passive ability that activates during Nightsoul Burst. For instance, a character like Genshin Impact Xilonen can get boosted energy for her rollerblades, and Mualani’s Sharky Surfboard abilities can get a good rise.
One of the main elements of Nightsoul Burst is its cooldown depending on how many Natlan characters your party has. With one character, the cooldown is 18 seconds, but it decreases to 12 seconds with two Natlan characters and just 9 seconds when there are three or more in your team.
Genshin Impact Nightsoul Transmission
Nightsoul Transmission ties into exploration and is triggered when Phlogiston is nearby. You’ll know it’s active because a Natlan character’s icon will glow gold. When you switch to that character, their exploration skills (usually linked to their Elemental Skill) will activate immediately.
For example:
- Mualani gains 40 Nightsoul Points, reduces their use pace and powers up her Sharky Surfboard when Nightsoul Transmission is active.
- Xilonen’s rollerblades allow vertical climbing and faster traversal to easily travel on tricky journeys.
Nightsoul Transmission is a great mechanic for exploring Natlan’s varied terrain including steep cliffs and hidden underwater paths.
