Find out how to get Acute Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Acute Fang is a high rank material in Monster Hunter Wilds that you need to forge or upgrade weapons and armor. But unlike common resources, you can’t just pick Acute Fang up from gathering points; you need to hunt down specific monsters for them. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to find Acute Fang in MH Wilds, the best monsters to hunt, farming locations, and good strategies to maximize your haul.

Where to Find Acute Fang in Monster Hunter Wilds

Selecting small monster in menu in MH Wilds

Acute Fang is exclusive to High Rank monsters in MH Wilds, so you won’t find it during the game’s early stages. Instead, it replaces Sharp Fang which drops during Low Rank matches. To start farming Acute Fangs, you need to go after certain small carnivorous monsters found across different regions.

The following monsters are confirmed to drop Acute Fang when carved:

  • Talioth – Found in Windward Plains
  • Gajios – Found in Windward Plains and Scarlet Forest
  • Porkeplume – Found in Ruins of Wyveria and Iceshard Cliffs
  • Guardian Seikret – Found in Ruins of Wyveria
  • Kranodath – Found in Oilwell Basin
  • Piragill – Found in Scarlet Forest

All these monsters have different drop rates, some with a 30% chance on carve while others can have up to 75%. Go for the monsters with higher drop rates for better reward per hunt.

Best Farming Locations for Acute Fang

Fighting monster in Monster Hunter Wilds

These are the best regions and strategies to farm more of these materials for your weapon upgrades:

The Forest (For Gajios & Piragill)

This region is one of the best places to get Acute Fang because Gajios and Piragill spawn in large numbers near water sources. Since both monsters drop Acute Fang, you can increase your farming rate by hunting these creatures at once. Look for Gajios underwater, they usually submerge when startled. You might need to lure them out for an easier kill. You will usually find Piragill near the riverbanks. If you are not good at water-based combat or having a hard time facing multiple creatures, try drawing them onto land before fighting.

Windward Plains (For Talioth & Gajios)

Talioth travel in hordes so these are good farming locations. Since they drop Acute Fang at high rates, you can kill many at once and carve them to get as many Fangs as possible. Use area-of-effect (AoE) weapons or traps to take down groups of Talioth faster. Fast travel to different locations within the plains to respawn monster groups.

Ruins of Wyveria & Iceshard Cliffs (For Porkeplume & Guardian Seikret)

These are less common but offer a good drop rate. While exploring these areas, make sure to hunt these creatures for Acute Fang and other loot. Focus on Guardian Seikret as it has one of the highest drop rates for it. Complete optional quests in these areas too to collect the item as a reward.

How to Farm Acute Fang Fast

Since you can’t get Acute Fang as a resource, you can’t find it by searching the map directly. However, you can use the Fast Travel List and Filter Icons in the Map menu to track the small monsters that drop these materials. To track monsters, open the Map and press the button in the bottom left of the screen to go to Fast Travel options. Scroll down to Filter Icons and find the monster you want to reach. Set a waypoint to head over directly to them.

Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds have different ways to drop materials. Acute Fang is usually dropped through Body Carving which means to manually carve the monster’s body after you kill it. Don’t capture monsters if you only need Acute Fang, capturing will reduce carve opportunities. It will take you a while to gather enough Acute Fangs in Monster Hunter Wilds if you’re doing it solo. So it’s better to hunt with teammates to save time and trouble.
