Despite a relatively quiet relationship between Ubisoft and Nintendo on the new-gen front, a new listing on PEGI has turned the community upside down for a bit with the hint of possible inclusion of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
The source of this report comes from PEGI—the Pan European Game Information board, the content ratings platform for video games in Europe. As spotted by 80.lv, Shadows recently appeared in the “most searched games” section on PEGI’s homepage. Alongside its usual platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the Switch 2 was also listed. That’s the first time we’ve seen the new Nintendo console mentioned in connection with Shadows, and naturally, it got people talking.
However, clicking the game’s full profile on PEGI doesn’t show mention of the Switch 2. Only PS5, Xbox, and PC are listed as official platforms. That inconsistency has led fans scratching their heads: was this a mistake, or did someone at PEGI jump the gun and accidentally reveal something that’s not supposed to be public yet?

Neither Ubisoft nor PEGI has released a statement regarding the scenario, and it has left the situation unclear. Such leak types have a past; we’ve seen this before—an accidental platform reveal followed by a quiet update or removal, and then an official announcement weeks later. So while it’s not confirmed but it’s worth considering.
From a financial angle, it makes good sense to bring the latest AC Shadows to Switch 2, which has been quite a success on release. The game has already proven itself to be one of Ubisoft’s biggest recent releases. Came last August, following two delays—the game quickly climbed sales charts, becoming the best-selling game in the U.S. for three straight weeks, according to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella. By the middle of April, it still held on to be the second-best-selling game, trailing Monster Hunter Wilds.
Critically, Shadows has performed strongly as well. User scores have been more mixed, but the core experience has aligned with a huge chunk of the community. Nintendo’s Switch 2 is expected to be far more powerful than its predecessor, something that could finally make AAA ports like this feel more natural rather than compromised. Ubisoft has already confirmed that Star Wars Outlaws will be available on the new console, with a release date set for September 4. That clearly signals their intent to support the Switch 2 moving forward.
If that’s the case, it’s hard to imagine Ubisoft skipping out on porting Assassin’s Creed Shadows given its momentum and the upcoming expansion plans. Even without an official statement, logically it seems right. And with the Switch 2’s arrival this June, we will be going into prime announcement territory. Of course, we have to keep expectations in check. It’s possible that the listing was an error or a placeholder that slipped through QA. PEGI, like any database, isn’t perfect and has made similar mistakes in the past. So, don’t be too serious about it.
