Baldur’s Gate 3 Adds Wicked New Endings One Year After Launch

Diabolical new endings for evil adventurers.

By Ali Usama

As a dedicated Baldur’s Gate 3 player, I’ve spent countless hours exploring every nook and cranny of Faerûn, battling mind flayers, and, honestly, sometimes just seeing how much chaos I can cause. But after a year of adventuring, Larian Studios has decided to treat us to something truly special—new evil endings especially created for those of us who enjoy letting our darker impulses run wild.

While there won’t be any major DLC expansions coming (much to the disappointment of my inventory full of hoarded potions), the team hasn’t stopped releasing the update patches by making adjustments and refining the game and these updates are anything but minor. The latest one, slated to drop this September, adds a few new endings that will satisfy those who’ve embraced the darker paths in their playthroughs.

Father would be so proud.

The teasers Larian has released on Twitter have me more excited than a goblin in a loot-filled dungeon. One clip, in particular, caught my eye—featuring the Dark Urge, a unique origin character that’s been an absolute blast to play. In this new ending, the Dark Urge doesn’t only make bad decisions; he curses his companions to a fate so twisted that I can’t help but grin at the thought of it.

For those of us who love to explore every moral crevice in the game, these BG3 endings are a wicked treat. Sure, I’ve had fun redeeming Astarion, having a soft relationship with Karlach, and turning Shadowheart into a paragon of good, but sometimes, you just want to watch the world—and your party—smashed. And Larian gets that – they really do.

However, if you’re more of a traditionalist who prefers to create your own character—good old Tav—don’t worry, you’re not left out of the wicked fun. Tav may not have the dark history of the Dark Urge, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wreak havoc just for the sheer love of chaos. So Baldur’s Gate 3 is giving us all a big, evil hug and saying, “Go on, ruin everything. You know you want to.”

If you decided happily ever after wasn’t for you, there’s an assortment of evil ending cinematics new to Baldur’s Gate 3, arriving with Patch 7.

It’s great to watch how Larian has kept polishing BG3 even after the one year of release. In the main storyline, we have to betray tieflings at the Emerald Grove to recruit Minthara to the party, that was a tough pill to swallow, especially if you were trying to play the hero. But thanks to some clever updates, now even goody-two-shoes players can make her companion even in Act 2 without being a total jerk.

This tweak is good for players who love a more nuanced playthrough. I mean, why not have your cake and eat it too, right? But, I have to admit, I’m still crossing my fingers for the day when they let us pursue a forbidden romance with Gortash. Because who doesn’t love a little “bad boy with a heart of gold” storyline? Until then, I’ll just keep daydreaming and trying these new evil endings. After all, there’s nothing quite like putting a beautifully wicked bow on one of the best role-playing experiences we have.
