Among the many choices you have to make in your complete Baldur’s Gate 3 journey, one of the earliest and trickiest involves Kagha in Act 1, the current leader of the Druids in the Emerald Grove. She’s the kind of character that stirs up a lot of strong opinions, and we can say not in a good way. Between her hardline stance on getting rid of the Tieflings and her willingness to go to extreme lengths (sacrificing innocent kids), it’s safe to say she’s not winning any popularity contests.
In this situation in Druid Grove, you are stuck between Kagha and Tieflings’ fight and the big question is: should you kill Kagha in BG3? It’s not so simple, and there are a couple of ways if you want to eliminate her (not a good character to care about) but each choice has its consequences. So, let’s figure out what happens if you decide to kill Kagha and if is it necessary to do that.
Who is Kagha in Baldur’s Gate 3?
To put it bluntly, she’s not the friendly character you’ll meet in the early narrative in BG3. Even her fellow Druids seem to have a hard time putting up with her. Kagha only cares about order, control, and making sure things go her way—even if it means doing some annoying and questionable things. The tension between her and the Tieflings in the Emerald Grove is off the charts. Even Zevlor, the leader of the Tieflings, requests you to take her out.
But why is Kagha such a thorn in everyone’s side? She has serious plans in her mind to take over the Druid Grove, and she’s not above using the wrong tactics of the Shadow Druids to get there. Furthermore, she doesn’t like the outsiders, especially the Tieflings, who she sees as a threat to the Druids’ way of life. That’s why, she is eager to perform a ritual that could seal off the Grove entirely, leaving the Tieflings out in the cold (or worse).
As we already talked about above, there are two different paths you can when dealing with Kagha: kill before investigating her or kill her after doing the investigation. It depends on when and how you decide to murder her, things will be different or can get pretty wild in Baldur’s Gate 3.
What Happens If You Kill Kagha Before Investigating Her in BG3?
If you are impulsive and decide to kill Kagha right after you meet her without asking her about anything, there will be chaos in the Grove. The second you land the final blow, the entire place turns into a battlefield. The Druids, furious about Kagha’s death, immediately go to war with the Tieflings, and you will be caught in the middle.
To make matters worse, you’ll have to fight your way out of this tough situation, and the only way is to defeat all the Druids in the Grove. It’s a bloody, messy ordeal, and it doesn’t leave a lot of people happy—or alive. Moreover, you can pretty much kiss the Druids’ support goodbye. They won’t side with you, and you’ll end up losing out on some pretty important alliances and storylines.
If you’re quick on your feet, there are ways to manage the fallout a bit. After killing Kagha, you can hightail it out of the Grove through the Stone Door right into the The Hollow. All the available Tieflings will be there, to help them to clear all Druids on the spot. After the combat is over, Zevlor will be grateful, you have to complete the Save the Refugees quest to keep progressing in the game.
But if you decide to take a breather and rest before dealing with the aftermath, things get even worse—the Druids will take control of the whole Grove, force the Tieflings to leave the place, and with that, the quest will fail and you are alone there to fight against the horde of enemies. However, if there are other active side quests related to the Druid Grove, they will be automatically completed, but not in a good way – you will lose all the rewards, Tieflings, and a whole lot of missed opportunities.
What Happens If You Kill Kagha After the Investigation in BG3?
Alternatively, this is the best and recommended way to deal with Kagha. You should do some detective work first, and then you’ll find a much cleaner way to take her down. After your initial meeting with Kagha, you must complete the Investigate Kagha quest. You can dig into her shady dealings by visiting her office where you can find the details about the ritual The Rite of Thorns which she is willing to perform. The following objective will bring you to the place of the secret letter and by reading it, you’ll discover the collaboration of Kagha with the Shadow Druids and what strange plans she has decided to execute.
With this letter, you can confront Kagha and call her out on her betrayal. At this point, the stakes are much higher for her, and you’ve got the upper hand. If you decide to kill her now, there will be no tension between Druids and Tieflings, so there’s no big messy battle to worry about. In fact, Zevlor and the Tieflings will be relieved by her execution, and you’ll even receive a very nice reward: the Broodmother’s Revenge amulet, which can extra 1d6 Poison damage to the wearer after his/her healing.
This is the best scenario where you get the best of both worlds. Kagha is out of the picture, you’ve received the support of the whole Tieflings community, and it lets you move forward in the story without leaving a trail of bodies behind. Further, you’ll avoid any unnecessary conflict with the Druids, keeping both important alliances intact.

Should You Kill Kagha in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)?
The quick and best answer is yes, you should kill Kagha in Baldur’s Gate 3 because there is no reason or any benefit to spare her but you will receive a very good reward for eliminating. But the important thing is when you should do that. She’s the cause of insurrection within the Emerald Grove, and she is involved in bad things with the Shadow Druids.
However, if you like to take on more different quests and interact with more characters, particularly with Halsin (who can be recruited or even romanced later), it’s better to investigate her first and take action in the later part. By holding off, you’ll not only get more out of the story but also avoid some bad consequences like losing Druids or maybe even Tieflings with the wrong move.
But even if you decide to spare Kagha, her fate isn’t necessarily sealed. If you fail to save Arabella and she ends up killing Arabella, the young Tiefling girl, things can take a turn. She will still be dead at the hands of Arabella’s parent later on but you can use a hard Persuasion check to convince Komari if you are in the mood to save Kagha but you shouldn’t. Given that you still get the Broodmother’s Revenge if Kagha dies, do it by yourself or let the parents do the dirty work of killing her.
