Destiny 2’s latest Episode Heresy has introduced many new weapons, but few have grabbed much attention such as Refusal of the Call, the first Strand glaive in the game. Glaives have been somewhat niche, but buffs and the unique perks available on this one make it a special inclusion no one might want to miss. For a PvE player mowing down ads or a PvP brawler looking to punch through Guardians’ defenses, this glaive is worth attention. Here’s everything about Refusal of the Call covering its god rolls, best perks, and how to get it.
How Good is Refusal of the Call in Destiny 2
At first, Refusal of the Call looks like another addition to the growing pile of glaives in Destiny 2, but it’s much more than that. As the first Strand glaive, it opens up synergies with builds you likely haven’t experimented with before. Pairing it with glaive buffs and some strong perks will turn this glaive into a weapon that can chain kills in PvE and surprise opponents in PvP.
In PvE, there will be great ammo efficiency and damage scaling, thanks to perks like Discord and Sword Logic. Discord refills your ammo from thin air directly, while Sword Logic increases damage with each kill. Even elite enemies give you a big 25% damage buff that restores endlessly.
In PvP, Disruption Break plays a main role. If you break a shield with a projectile, a follow-up melee can shred through any Guardian. Mix that with Impulse Amplifier to level up your projectile speed to get a quick-strike glaive that keeps your opponents on their toes. Overall, Refusal of the Call is not the absolute meta, but we say it a standout Strand glaive that can fit niche builds or aggressive playstyles.
Destiny 2 Refusal of the Call PvE God Roll
- Haft: Tempered Truss Rod
- Magazine: Swap Mag
- Perk 1: Discord (Slice is also a decent alternative)
- Perk 2: Sword Logic (Close to Melee is viable too)
- Masterwork: Handling (Shield Duration is gra eat alternate pick)
- Origin Trait: Willing Vessel
Focus on maximizing swap speed and build a kill chain. Discord plays a massive role in ammo management, it refunds ammo after kills so you won’t constantly burn through your reserves. Discord’s combo with Sword Logic offers bonus damage that stacks higher the tougher the target. This Discord/Sword Logic pair makes Refusal of the Call glaive a powerhouse in endgame PvE that any other choice will not win the race.
For melee-heavy builds in Destiny 2, you should of course go with Close to Melee as its name suggests for what it’s here. It is a super powerful close-range weapon for Synthoceps or Wormgod builds. This glaive looks better when paired with high Handling gear and mods which allows to quickly swap in, pick off a target, and refresh Discord. It also synergizes well with builds focused on Strand sever effects, so Slice could have some utility depending on your subclass setup.
Destiny 2 Refusal of the Call PvP God Roll
- Haft: Ballistic Tuning
- Magazine: Accurized Rounds
- Perk 1: Impulse Amplifier
- Perk 2: Disruption Break (Close to Melee is a good backup)
- Masterwork: Range
- Origin Trait: Willing Vessel
Impulse Amplifier gives a boost to projectile velocity and it’s so great that we can’t help but fit it into our build. The higher velocity lets you land shots much faster, especially in a chaotic PvP scenario. Disruption Break is the MVP here, equip it to break enemy shields and immediately follow up with a glaive melee for the kill. That one-two punch is lethal, even against high-resilience Guardians. Alternatively, Close to Melee works well if you favor closing the gap quickly and chaining melee kills after landing a ranged hit.
PvP engagements with glaives require speed and surprise. This Refusal of the Call PvP god roll gives you 175 m/s projectile speed and the ability to punish shielded opponents. Ballistic Tuning and Accurized Rounds extend the engagement range, so it becomes less risky to pull out your glaive mid-fight.
Trait Synergy and Niche Perk Options
Refusal of the Call isn’t without flexibility either. Replenishing Aegis pairs well with defensive players, especially in PvE. You can block damage and passively reload your glaive. Beacon Rounds is more situational but can give you heavy projectile tracking after a kill, so it’s a sleeper option if you’re going full ranged glaive. There’s even a niche with Tilting at Windmills + Melee Momentum which gives you movement speed while blocking so you’re a mobile fortress in certain melee-focused builds. Some glaive mains love this combo for PvE brawler builds.
How to Get Refusal of the Call in Destiny 2
Refusal of the Call drops from Episode: Heresy activities, primarily The Nether. Once grinding seasonal content, this Strand glaive is a potential drop from all Heretical Activities. However, to speed up your farm, you’ll want to:
- Run The Nether (this is your main farming ground).
- Use the Tome of Want to focus your drops on Refusal of the Call using Scriptures. It lets you bypass RNG to some extent and target farm rolls more efficiently.
- For the Adept version, aim for higher difficulty Court of Blades or Expert-level activities, where Adept variants with dual perks and the Runneth Over Origin Trait drop.
Refusal of the Call is not craftable, but it can be leveled up at the Relic to unlock upgraded perk options. Even if glaives aren’t your favorite weapon picks, this weapon opens up some fun build options for PvE mostly. In PvP, it doesn’t fill the space of shotgun or sniper, but as a surprise melee-ranged hybrid, it has enough utility that makes it worth putting in the slot for aggressive glaive builds.
