The Fort Condor is a minigame in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth you must finish before you unlock the Protorelic in Junon. If you’ve made it to Stage 4, you understand it’s no cakewalk. It involves tower defense and chess, with a rock-paper-scissors element that keeps you on your toes. Your task is to defeat the enemy’s boss before they destroy your base. But with limited ATB, no full control over your hero fighters, tough enemies, and a ticking clock, it can be very complex to cross the winning line. So, our guide tells tips and strategies to beat Fort Condor Stage 4.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Fort Condor 4 Guide
In Fort Condor tactical minigame, you deploy heroes onto a battlefield and let them fight automatically. You need to place the right units at the right time, following a rock-paper-scissors system:
- Vanguard (Red) beats Ranged (Green)
- Ranged (Green) beats Defense (Blue)
- Defense (Blue) beats Vanguard (Red)
If you don’t play to these strengths and weaknesses, the enemy will roll over you fast. You’ll also have to manage your ATB gauge (used to deploy units) and strategically place Hero Units like Cloud, Tifa, or Barret to turn the battle tide in your favor.
Stage 4 requires overwhelming the enemy and taking down their boss (Gilgamesh in this case). Always check the enemy’s incoming units on the right side of the screen and counter them. There needs to be a mix of offense, defense, and clever team positioning.
Here’s the winning playbook:
- Pick Cloud (Defense Hero) and Tifa (Vanguard Hero) for this level 4.
- Cloud is important since this strategy relies on blue units (Defense) to tank and push the enemy.
- Tifa owns raw offensive power to overcome heated situations.
- Use the Stronghold Defense Formation, which gives you unlimited Ballistas and Trebuchets to spam.
At the start, focus on building a strong defensive front while preparing to whittle down the enemy boss.
- Right Lane:
- Drop an Elite Enforcer (Blue) near the middle of the lane to counter early Vanguard (Red) units.
- Place a Cleric behind the Enforcer to keep it alive longer.
- Left Lane:
- Deploy an Elite Vanguard (Red) to deal with any incoming Ranged (Green) threats.
- Don’t overcommit resources here—your focus should be on the middle and right lanes.
- Middle:
- Place a Ballista as close to the enemy boss as possible without it being destroyed immediately.
- Use Clerics to support this area and keep your units in the fight.
Once your defensive lines are holding steady, it’s time to set up the real damage dealers:
- Spam Trebuchets in the middle lane, as close to the enemy HQ as you can safely place them.
- Deploy 4+ Trebuchets near the Ballista, these will chip away at the boss’s health.
- Trebuchets are the most valuable for this stage and need to be safe for the entire fight. So, deploy Clerics nearby to heal them and other frontline units. If enemies start wrecking your siege units, drop an Elite Enforcer to bodyguard them.
After building a solid lineup of Defense units (Blue), your ATB gauge will fill up, allowing you to summon Cloud.
- Drop Cloud directly in front of the boss to draw aggro and keep the enemy units distracted. Follow up with another Cleric to heal Cloud while he’s taking hits.
When you’ve stabilized the battlefield and saved up enough resources, summon Tifa to bring the pain. Place her strategically to punch through any remaining opponents or deal heavy damage to the boss.
Even if Cloud falls, your Trebuchets and Ballistas should have backup firepower to finish the job. Keep deploying Clerics to extend the lifespan of your siege weapons and frontline units. If there is not much time left, focus all remaining resources on spamming Hero units that counter the boss’s reinforcements (Vanguard, Ranged, or Defense as needed).
Tips for Fort Condor Stage 4
- Ignore the Left Lane (Mostly): Many players have completed the stage by focusing on the right lane and middle. Your base defenses can usually handle any small threats from the left. If something does sneak through, deploy a single unit to cover it.
- ATB Management: Don’t spam units recklessly. Save your ATB for crucial moments, especially when summoning Heroes or placing high-value units like Clerics and Trebuchets.
- Ballista + Trebuchet Combo: Ballistas are great for defeating groups of enemies, while Trebuchets hit the boss hard. Use them together with tactics for maximum effect.
You can also experiment with different strategies, and don’t be afraid to change them. For example, you can try an all-offense approach or lean heavily on defense to see what works best for you.
