How to Get and Make Saviour Schnapps in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The best way to get yourself a lot of Saviour Schnapps in KCD 2.

If you’ve played the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance before, you already know the drill of saving your game, which isn’t as simple as hitting a quicksave button. Instead, you need Saviour Schnapps, a special potion that lets you manually save whenever you want. Love it or hate it, this system forces you to think carefully about your choices and makes every bandit fight, theft, or risky decision more intense.

But you will not want to lose your long progress because of a deadly ambush by bandits or failed persuasion. That’s why keeping a steady supply of Saviour Schnapps in your inventory is the most important part of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. You can buy it, loot it, or brew it yourself, and in this guide, I’ll show you the best ways to stock up so you can save whenever you need to other than sleeping on your bed.

How to Get Saviour Schnapps in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

There are a few ways to get your hands on Saviour Schnapps in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 including buying, looting, or brewing it yourself. Buying is the easiest option early on, but once you get comfortable with alchemy theory, brewing your own will save you a lot of Groschen.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Apothecary Emmerich

Here are the best places to look for vendors with Saviour Schnapps supply:

  • Apothecary Emmerich (Troskowitz) – Best source for quality Saviour Schnapps.
  • Troskowitz Inn (Innkeeper Betty, Alehouse Maid) – Usually have Weak Saviour Schnapps to sell.
  • Tachov Inn (Innkeepers Prochek, Voyka, and Manka) – Another good location to visit for purchase.
  • Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn (Innkeepers Lawrence and Marie) – Good alternative spot.
  • Merchant Jurg Thömel (Troskowitz) – Occasionally stocks some.

Your reputation in a town affects the prices. The higher your reputation, the better the deal you’ll get.

Moreover, looting Saviour Schnapps is another good option. Bandits sometimes carry them, so by taking down a few troublemakers, you might be lucky to obtain Schnapps through corpses. You’ll also find Saviour Schnapps inside treasure chests, abandoned houses, and overturned wagons. In early-game, go to the Overturned Wagon west of Troskowitz and talk to the NPC trader—there’s a decent stash of Schnapps on his mentioned spot waiting to be looted.

The best way to save your money is to make it yourself. Brewing your own Saviour Schnapps means you’ll never have to worry about running out, and if you do it right, you can craft multiple strong potions at once.

How to Brew Saviour Schnapps in KCD 2

Brewing Saviour Schnapps is very easy once you get the hang of alchemy, and it’s by far the cheapest and most efficient way to ensure you always have a spare potion on hand. Following the right steps, you can even make Strong Saviour Schnapps, which not only saves your game but also gives you a temporary boost to Strength, Vitality, and Agility for a few minutes.

You’ll automatically unlock the Saviour Schnapps recipe early in the game from Pavlena, the herbalist’s daughter. After escaping with Sir Hans Capon, you’ll end up at Bozhena’s hut, where Pavlena will give you the recipe along with a few Weak Saviour Schnapps to start with.

Saviour Schnapps Recipe Book in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

You need these Ingredients for this recipe:

  • 1x Nettle (Common herb, found near rivers, ponds, and forests)
  • 2x Belladonna (Harder to find; buy from Emmerich or look in forest clearings)
  • Wine (Potion base)

Nettle is everywhere near water sources and forest edges, especially outside Troskowitz closer to the alchemy shop. These are the best locations to get Belladonna:

  • Apothecary Emmerich (Troskowitz) – Sells fresh and dried Belladonna.
  • Nomad Camp (Far end, near Tomcat) – Arakana
  • Northwest of Bozhena’s hut – Found near the area where Pavlena sends you to gather sage and chamomile.
  • Nameless Spring (East of Bozhena’s hut) – A small basket near a stream contains many Belladonna. You will also get Herb Paris which is hard to find.
  • Forest clearings – Belladonna grows in scattered patches, though it can be hard to spot.

Brewing Saviour Schnapps in KCD 2

After collecting all items, follow these steps to successfully craft a Saviour Schnapps by yourself at Alchemy Station:

  1. Pour Wine into the cauldron.
  2. Add Nettle to the cauldron.
  3. Lower the cauldron over the fire.
  4. Flip the sandglass once to time the boil perfectly.
  5. Grind 2 Belladonna in the mortar while the Nettle is boiling.
  6. Once the sand runs out, add the ground Belladonna to the cauldron.
  7. Flip the sandglass again for once.
  8. As soon as the sand is halfway through, raise the cauldron.
  9. Pour into a phial.

If you do everything correctly, you’ll get 3 Strong Saviour Schnapps (or 4 with the “Secret of Matter” perk). If you mess up the timing, you might end up with a regular or weak version instead. Always use fresh Nettle and Belladonna for the best results. Dried herbs usually produce weaker potions.

If you invest in alchemy perks like “Secret of Matter” (more potion yield) or “Secret of Secrets” (exceptional quality), you’ll be able to mass-produce high-quality Saviour Schnapps and never worry about losing progress again. With less Belladonna in inventory, you can craft a weaker version with just 1 Belladonna instead of 2. It won’t be as strong, but it still saves the game.

In case when you don’t have any Saviour Schnapps, Save & Exit lets you quit the game while saving progress. When you reload, it disappears, but it’s useful in a pinch. Further, sleeping on an owned or rented bed to heal in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also saves your game. Furthermore, there are already KCD 2 mods available that allow free saving.
