In Star Wars Outlaws, you will encounter some locked gates that aren’t your typical “press a button, door opens” kind of gates. Kay Vess will have to use the Fusioncutter to get past these barriers but you don’t have this tool from the start and require efforts to obtain it. This guide tells how you can get your hands on this Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws and finally cut your way through the stubborn doors.
When and Where to Get the Fusioncutter
This tool is what we call a “late-game prize.” You’ll only unlock it during the Legacy mission, which, spoiler alert, happens very late in the game—think close-to-end game late. So, if you’ve got your heart set on slicing through the gates in the beginning, you are going to disappoint and are required to have good patience while progressing through the storyline.
You will complete the Legacy quest during your visit to Akiva, which is tied to the main story. You must first finish the necessary objectives on Kijimi and Tatooine before going to search for the Fusioncutter on Akira because your trip will be of no use if you haven’t first completed these quests. Once those are checked off your to-do list, it’s the right time to take on the Legacy challenges.

How to Find the Fusioncutter in Star Wars Outlaws
During the objective, you’re thrown into a rescue mission for your buddy ND-5, which quickly becomes a hunt for a rare part in a big complex with winding tunnels, hidden dangers, and—of course—locked gates. This is where your trusty droidsmith companion, Gedeek, steps in.
The Droidsmith named Gedeek will be with you during the task and she will use her Fusioncutter to open the locked entrances that come your way. But eventually, he hands it over to you before departing. In this way, you will now have a Fusioncutter in your pack and from now onward, you can pass through any looked gates that are there to make things hard for you.
Have you come across those doors earlier? The ones that taunted you with their locked treasures? Now’s your chance to go back and see what’s hidden behind them. These closed areas often hide valuable upgrade items that can greatly give a boost to your game. So, while the Fusioncutter arrives late in the story, it gives you access to a lot of amazing loot.
