How to Heal in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Don’t let Henry fall in battle!

Surviving in the harsh medieval world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is more than having a sharp sword or quick reflexes, you need to keep Henry alive long enough to see another day. In fending off bandits, facing down armored knights, or taking a bad fall in the wilderness, your health bar is bound to take some hits such as early on during Hermit quest when finding a way into the wedding.

Unlike most RPGs, healing in KCD2 isn’t as simple as chugging a health potion and instantly bouncing back. Instead, you’ll need to rely on a combination of sleep, potions, food, and even a relaxing visit to the local bathhouse. If you want to know how to patch up Henry after a brutal fight or prevent him from keeling over from food poisoning, this guide will walk you through all the best ways to heal in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

How to Heal Your Character in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The world Henry is facing is so harsh and it’s impossible not to get beaten often and indulge in fights. To avoid seeing the game over again and again, healing is your option to keep your Henry in good shape and progress through KCD 2’s storyline. So, here are the ways that restore the stamina bar.

Sleep in a Bed

Sleeping on a bed to restore health in KCD 2

One of the most effective ways to restore Henry’s health is simply getting rest. Sleeping in a bed not only heals wounds but also restores stamina. Sleeping in your own bed or one you’ve rented at an Inn will restore health and even save your game. Paying for a bed is the legal way to rest but if sleep on someone else’s bed that you don’t own, although it helps recover stamina but you might get in trouble for trespassing.

The longer Henry sleeps, the more health he recovers. If you’re badly injured, pairing sleep with a Chamomile Brew will speed up the healing process. So, it’s better to use brew in case you are low on health and need a quick recovery.

Eat Food and Meals

Eat Food and Meals to Heal in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Other than filling Henry’s stomach—some meals in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 also provide a small health boost. When browsing the food tab in your inventory, check for items that restore HP. While most food sources restore nourishment, some are better at healing than others.

Fruits and vegetables tend to do more healing than other meals. Eating rotten food can cause food poisoning, which will do more harm than good so beware of what you are going to feed to your character. To better understand which foods heal the most, see the cooking and food system in the inventory to see which items restore the most HP.

Use the Bathhouse

If Henry is battered and bruised, a trip to the bathhouse is another great way to fully restore health. Paying for a bath not only cleans Henry up but also helps heal his wounds completely. The bathhouse is a solid alternative to sleeping on your busy travel with no time to lay down on the bed.

But the more services you use such as massages or “extra” services, the higher the cost. Bathhouses are also a great place to clean your clothes, which can improve how NPCs perceive you. For a quick and easy health reset, stopping by a bathhouse is well worth the Groschen spent.

Beyond simple wounds, Henry can suffer from conditions like bleeding and food poisoning, which can drain his health over time. Here’s how to deal with them:
