One of the interesting new features in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is using an enemy as a Body Shield thanks to omnimovement the game introduced including a lot of different fresh mechanics. You know that moment in action movies where the hero grabs a bad guy, uses them as a bullet sponge, and then keeps fighting? Now you can do that in BO6, and I must say, it’s as satisfying as it sounds. You are giving your enemies a front-row seat to their own doom while also keeping yourself in one piece.
What is the Body Shield in Black Ops 6?
In Black Ops 6, Treyarch introduced a feature where you can grab an enemy and use them as a human shield. Be it called as a “Body Shield” or a “Meat Shield“, it’s a fascinating and unique gameplay angle.
You are sneaking behind some poor, unsuspecting opponent, grabbing them, and got a personal riot shield—except this one has a heartbeat, at least for a while. A body shield can save your skin in the middle of a firefight. Let your new “protection friend” take the few bullets that would have otherwise shredded you.
How to Use a Body Shield in CoD: Black Ops 6
To use an enemy as your Body Shield in BO6, you need to sneak up behind him. Although sneaking isn’t always easy in intense war situations, it’s amazing when you pull it off. Once you’re close enough and see the indicator, hold the melee button to grab them by mounting your gun on them. The key will vary according to the system you are playing on; it’s usually the right stick for the consoles.
Once you have them in your clutches, congratulations—you now have a human shield. You can hold them hostage in front of you as a shield, so any bullets aimed your way will hit them first. When doing that with one hand, you can still fire with your off-hand. You won’t be sniping any headshots from across the map, but in melee fights, you can still fight.
The enemy can call their teammates for quick help, and you can hear them or even talk with them if your Proximity Chat is enabled. This can lead to some hilarious moments. So, don’t think about lowering your guard down once you have a temporary protection.
Tips to Effectively Use the Body Shield
To get the best of this Body Shield mechanic, hold a melee weapon in hand because it’s difficult to engage in long-range combat. Holding a man will also lower your movement a lot, and speed is key to pulling off a sneaky grab. The map knowledge also helps a lot as there are some good locations to set up ambushes or perform these attacks. The perfect scenario to use this feature is when opponents are in great numbers and you find it hard to survive.
Once you hold someone hostage, remember, that time is of the essence. There’s a meter that shows you how long you can hold onto enemies before they break free or meet an untimely end. There is a maximum of 15 seconds time to hold a person and after that, your character will kill the enemy by breaking his neck. So, clear out nearby threats or get yourself to cover before your Meat Shield expires.
One thing to remember is that the enemy as your shield will survive if other enemies kill you within this 15 seconds timeframe. You need to be wary of your surroundings and battlefield situation to avoid enemy flanks. After using the shield, you can either do a Quick Kill to drop them fast or go for a Finishing Move. But sometimes it’s good to savor the moment.
