With Over 4 Million Copies Sold, Resident Evil 4: Remake is Now Second Fastest-Selling Resident Evil Game

The latest entry of the world's most popular franchise is not behind in achieving milestones.

Capcom recently announced that the Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, as the company had previously reported that the game had got impressive 3 million sales within the first 48 hours of its launch.

Given that it only debuted on March 24, 2023, and has already sold over 4 million copies, it’s a great achievement. The game is a smash hit, with sales already surpassing those of the previous Resident Evil games.

Capcom stated, “In addition to Resident Evil 4 garnering interest and attention from the release of the Chainsaw Demo before launch, sales of the title grew steadily following a highly positive reception from customers, driving worldwide sales over 4 million units.”

According to Alex Aniel’s analysis, the author of Itchy Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil, the Remake has earned the second spot in sales within the Resident Evil franchise’s history. Mr. Aniel has expressed his anticipation for it to surpass the sales record of Resident Evil 6, which took almost a year to reach the milestone of 5 million units sold after its release.

Resident Evil 4 released back in 2005 was praised for its gameplay, plot, and visuals. Being a rework of the main game, Resident Evil 4 Remake promises to please both longtime players and newcomers to the series.

Fans and critics alike have praised the title for its improved visuals, gameplay aspects, and soundtracks. Capcom’s success with this game is the result of the company’s determination to preserve the series’s foundation with the update of fresh material and features.

With titles being released continuously in series since 1996, Resident Evil has established itself as a gaming juggernaut. After the Resident Evil 4 Remake launch, the lineup’s overall sales surpassed 135 million units globally, sealing its clear position in the gaming industry.

After selling over 3 million copies in its first week, the Resident Evil 4 Remake became the second fastest-selling game in the franchise’s history. Resident Evil Village closely follows which has the previous record of over 3 million sales in its first four days on sale.

The series’s enduring fame is thanks to the developer’s efforts and the loyalty of its devoted audience. The Resident Evil series has proven to be a huge success and continues to draw in new fans.
