Capcom recently announced that the Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold over 4 million copies throughout the world. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, as the company had previously reported that the game had garnered an impressive 3 million sales within the first 48 hours of its launch.

Given that it only debuted on March 24, 2023, and has already sold over 4 million copies, this is a remarkable achievement. The game is a smash hit, with sales already surpassing those of the previous Resident Evil games.

Capcom stated, “In addition to Resident Evil 4 garnering interest and attention from the release of the Chainsaw Demo before launch, sales of the title grew steadily following a highly positive reception from customers, driving worldwide sales over 4 million units.”

As per the analysis of Alex Aniel, the author of Itchy Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil, the Remake has attained the second spot in terms of swiftness in sales within the Resident Evil franchise’s history. Mr. Aniel has expressed his anticipation for it to surpass the sales record of Resident Evil 6, which took almost a year to reach the milestone of 5 million units sold after its release.

Gameplay, plot, and visuals were all praised upon the 2005 release of the original Resident Evil 4. As a reworking of the main game, Resident Evil 4 Remake promises to please both longtime players and newcomers to the series.

Fans and critics alike have praised the title for its improved visuals, gameplay aspects, and soundtracks. Capcom’s success with this game stems from its determination to preserve the series’s foundation while updating it with fresh material and features.

With games in the series having been released continuously since 1996, Resident Evil has established itself as a gaming juggernaut. After the release of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, the series’ overall sales surpassed 135 million units around the world, sealing its clear position in the gaming industry.

After the Resident Evil 2 Remake, which sold over 3 million copies in its first week, the Resident Evil 4 Remake became the second fastest-selling game in the franchise’s history. Resident Evil Village closely follows, having sold over 3 million copies in its first four days on sale.

The series’ enduring fame is a tribute to the efforts of its developers and the loyalty of its devoted audience. The Resident Evil series has proven to be a huge success and continues to draw in new fans, ensuring that it will be around for a long time.
