The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom includes four legendary dragons and one of them is the deadly Dinraal, The Fire Dragon. The parts of this creature are very valuable to craft many items. The dragon is a colossal, fire-breathing sky dragon flying around Hyrule. In this guide, we’ll tell where to find Dinraal the Fire Dragon in Tears of the Kingdom, how to land on it, and how to obtain its valuable parts.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Dinraal the Fire Dragon

Dinraal is a spirit of fire, a massive dragon covered in flames, soaring through the skies of Hyrule. But despite being a literal fire dragon, Dinraal is a pretty calm-natured beast with no beef with humans.

Even though he is no threat, you still want to go after him because Dinraal drops some valuable loot such as scales, claws, fangs, and horns. Rather than being worthless collectibles, these are essential parts for making some of the game’s strongest weapons and armor.

Where to Find Dinraal in Zelda (TOTK)

Dinraal usually flies around Death Mountain in the northern part towards the higher part of Hyrule getting through the Akkala Tech Lab and leading towards the Thyphlo Ruins in the Great Hyrule Forest.  He starts his day emerging from the Akkala Highlands Chasm, takes a flight across the Akkala Sea, circles around the Eldin Mountain area, and then disappears into the Eldin Mountains Chasm.

To easily spot him, choose a good higher viewing point. The Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower are great spots to catch a glimpse of Dinraal’s flight path. So, use your binoculars, and keep your eyes on the sky.

This dragon is surrounded by intense heat. So, unless you fancy a quick trip to the game over screen, you need something to survive the environment. Equip heat resistance armor; the Desert Voe set is a solid choice. It’s stylish and keeps you from getting roasted. Similarly, you should store up on heat-resistance Elixirs.

Collect Dinraal Parts

The dragon cannot be approached directly to have his body parts removed. You’ll need to take a shot at them and the target area is important. Hit the mouth for the fangs, the rear for the spikes, the whole body for the scales, and the claws for the claws. Keep in mind that you are limited to obtaining a single item at a time and have to wait ten minutes in between each subsequent retrieval.

There are five different types of parts you can snag from this fiery beast including:

  • Shard of Dinraal’s Fang – You have to aim for Dinraal’s mouth. A well-placed shot will knock one loose.
  • Shard of Dinraal’s Spike – You will find these sticking out of the spikes on Dinraal’s back. Typically, you can find ten or twelve of these materials at once.
  • Shard of Dinraal’s Horn – To get this, you should take a shot at Dinraal’s horns. Hit them right, and you’ll break off a shard.
  • Dinraal’s Scale – This one’s a bit easier to get. Just strike anywhere on Dinraal’s body, and a scale will be yours.
  • Dinraal’s Claw – To get your hands on one of these, you’ll need to shoot one of Dinraal’s mighty claws. Aim well, and you will break one off.
