If you’re a fan of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom like me, you’ve certainly experienced the excitement of exploring Hyrule’s enormous open environment. Furthermore, this area is home to four legendary dragons. One of these is our fiery friend, Dinraal, The Fire Dragon. This guy’s parts are like gold dust when it comes to crafting valuable items.

Now, Dinraal isn’t your average dragon. This creature is a colossal, fire-breathing sky dragon that takes a scenic tour of Hyrule on a pretty regular basis. In this guide, we’re here to give you all the deets on where to find Dinraal the Fire Dragon in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, how to land on it, and how to obtain its valuable parts.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Dinraal the Fire Dragon

Dinraal is a spirit of fire, a massive dragon covered in flames, soaring through the skies of Hyrule. But here’s the kicker – despite being a literal fire dragon, Dinraal is pretty chill. He’s got no beef with humans.

Now, why should you care about this flame-coated creature? Dinraal drops some seriously valuable loot. We are talking about scales, claws, fangs, and horns. Rather than being worthless collectibles, these are essential parts for making some of the game’s strongest weapons and armor. So, if you want to level up your game and improve your equipment, you should not miss out on Dinraal dragon.

So you’re probably wondering, “Where do I find this fire-breathing beast?” Well, let me tell you, tracking down TOTK Dinraal is like a thrilling treasure hunt. This dragon loves to take a scenic route around Death Mountain. He starts his day emerging from the Akkala Highlands Chasm, takes a leisurely flight across the Akkala Sea, circles around the Eldin Mountain area, and then poof! He disappears into the Eldin Mountains Chasm.

Now, it’s not as simple as it seems to find a dragon, particularly if it’s soaring above a landscape as vast as Death Mountain. So, here’s some pro advice: choose a good higher viewing point. The Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower are great spots to catch a glimpse of Dinraal’s flight path. So, grab your binoculars (or, you know, just squint really hard), and keep your eyes on the sky.

Before you go rushing off to find Dinraal, let’s talk gear. You see, Dinraal isn’t just a fire dragon in the name. This guy is literally surrounded by intense heat. So, unless you fancy a quick trip to the game over screen, you’re gonna need some protection.

First up, you’ll want to get your hands on some heat resistance armor. The Desert Voe set is a solid choice. It’s stylish and it’ll keep you from getting roasted. But that’s not all! Similarly, you should store up on heat-resistance Elixirs. There is no such thing as inadequate protection from the heat when you are standing face-to-face with a flaming creature.

Collect Dinraal Parts

Dinraal is like a flying treasure chest. He drops some seriously valuable materials like shards of his fangs, spikes, scales, and even his mighty claws. These aren’t simply neat trinkets to show off; they’re crucial for crafting weapons and other strong equipment.

However, the dragon cannot be approached directly to have his body parts removed. Indeed, you’ll need to take a shot at them and the target area is important. You need to hit the mouth for the fangs, the rear for the spikes, the whole body for the scales, and the claws for the claws. Please note that you are limited to obtaining a single item at a time and have to wait a minimum of ten minutes in between each subsequent retrieval.

There are five different types of parts you can snag from this fiery beast which are the following:

  • Shard of Dinraal’s Fang – You have to aim for Dinraal’s mouth. A well-placed shot will knock one loose.
  • Shard of Dinraal’s Spike – You will find these sticking out of the spikes on Dinraal’s back. Typically, you can find ten or twelve of these materials at once.
  • Shard of Dinraal’s Horn – To get this, you should take a shot at Dinraal’s horns. Hit them right, and you’ll break off a shard.
  • Dinraal’s Scale – This one’s a bit easier to get. Just strike anywhere on Dinraal’s body, and a scale will be yours.
  • Dinraal’s Claw – To get your hands on one of these, you’ll need to shoot one of Dinraal’s mighty claws. Aim well, and you will break one off.
