Will Lords of the Fallen have Multiplayer Co-op Play?

What's there in the multiplayer department for the much-anticipated dark world reboot?

By Ali Usama

So, the buzz is all about this new title on the block, “Lords of the Fallen.” Ring any bells? Well, if you’re thinking of the older game, scratch that. This one’s a remake. I bet you’re itching to know if you can summon a friend to battle alongside you or maybe you’re reminiscing about those epic (and often frustrating) co-op sessions in Dark Souls. The big question is: will Lords of the Fallen hop on the multiplayer bandwagon? Or are we in for a solo journey like some of its genre peers? Let’s find out.

The Prevalence of Summoning in Souls Games

Remember those days playing Souls games when you’d find yourself in front of a daunting boss, heart pounding, palms sweaty? And just when you’re thinking, “How on earth am I going to beat this monster?”, That’s when you could call in your friends or even some random knight-in-shining armor to help defeat that boss in the classic one-two fashion.

As much as summoning has been a huge part of the Souls experience, not every game in this genre has jumped on the co-op train. Take some recently released titles for example. It’s a completely solo journey; there is no summoning, no co-op. And, if you recall, the old Lords of the Fallen also made us face our demons (literally) all by our lonesome. But, times change, games evolve, and who knows what this revamped edition has in store?

Will Lords of the Fallen have Multiplayer Play?

There is multiplayer support available in Lords of the Fallen.

If you are thinking of charging through the game with your best gaming mate, especially with all the anticipation about Lords of the Fallen cross-platform support, we’ve got good news for you. This new LotF brings the multiplayer scene right from the get-go. Indeed, there wouldn’t be any waiting on DLCs or updates – it would be multiplayer mayhem from day one.

And, it’s not just about teaming up for the epic boss battles. Fancy a full-fledged adventure with a friend from start to finish? This game’s got your back. You can invite your friends and go through the complete storyline together. However, for those into PvP, there doesn’t seem to be any such mode planned right now.

From the excitement of multiplayer to the slight disappointment of missing local co-op, Lords of the Fallen certainly can have us eager. But the Soulslike genre is always evolving, and each game brings something new to the table. Whether you’re playing this latest reboot solo, teaming up with friends in multiplayer, or just reminiscing about older titles, this is going to be one hell of a gaming ride.
