How to Get Pebbles Back in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD 2)

An old companion is back in KCD 2 but you have to find and get her.

Right after you start your journey in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the game strips you of Pebbles. Losing the trusty steed from the first Kingdom Come, just when you step foot in the game, hits harder than getting ambushed by bandits with no armor on. But Henry can reunite with his four-legged buddy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Although getting Pebbles back will be your focus but you should acquire any other house for easy and fast travel, such as owning stolen horses in KCD 2. However, here’s how to get Pebbles back, what to avoid, and a few horsey tips I’ve picked up along the way.

How to Get Your Horse Pebbles Back in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Semine Village map location

At a certain point in the story (once you gain free movement and reach the Trosky region), you’ll have access to Semine village. In Semine, go to the castle stables at the back – it’s quiet there. In the stable field, you’ll spot a familiar-looking grey horse chilling there, that’s Pebbles you are after. Henry immediately recognizes her right when you gets close to her.

Talking to Ballatay to get Pebbles in KCD 2

You can’t just hop on Pebbles and ride her. The stablemaster, Groom Ballatay, owns him now. You’ll find him leaning against a wall near the stables. Initiate a convo, and tell him you want your horse back. He’ll initially push back, but don’t worry—there’s a dialogue option to say: “Be reasonable.” Choose that. With that, Ballatay lets you take Pebbles for free, saving you 150 Groschen for direct purchase. You can also select dialogue to buy with Groschen, and can haggle to lower the price.

Once the convo wraps, you’ll need to wait an in-game hour before Pebbles becomes officially yours again. After that, whistle him over with:

  • PC: Press X
  • Xbox: Press Y
  • PlayStation: Press Triangle

Pebbles will come trotting over whenever you call her. If you also want to unlock the trophy, bringing Pebbles back unlocks the “An Old Friend” achievement.

Many players get a temporary horse from the wild or even borrow one (it counts as stealing) before reuniting with Pebbles. Thankfully, you can still get Pebbles back even after picking up another horse. Getting a new mount doesn’t lock you out—it only overrides your current active horse. She is always recoverable as long as you head to the Semine stables and go through the steps above.

How to Buy Good Horses Other Than Pebbles in KCD 2

Pebbles is great, nostalgic, loyal, and dependable. But regarding stats and speed, better horses do exist. If you want it, visit any stable in major towns and speak with the Groom. Check the horses in the paddock—make a note of the horse’s name. Return to him and purchase the horse by name.

Top-tier horses aren’t cheap. You’ll need a lot of Groschen, so start saving to ride like royalty. For trading, the Groom will give you credit based on your current horse’s value. So Pebbles can help reduce the price if you choose to part ways (but who could?). Choosing another horse doesn’t permanently lock Pebbles. You only need to complete the right conversation with Groom Ballatay.
